Arctic Spa vs the Tesla Model X

Strange title to compare a hot tub to an SUV, I know, but read on. I did it. I really still cannot believe it but I put in a reservation for the Tesla Model X. I am number 18557. Since the car is not even in production yet, I still have a wait but frankly I am not ready for it yet. I figure it will be ready in about a year.

Like many people, Tesla has always interested me but never did I think that it would be something that I would ever purchase. A couple of months ago, the Tesla Service Center opened up just one one door down the street from us at Arctic Spas. This started me thinking.

Never had I ever considered spending this much money on a car but when the service center moved in next door, the math starting going through my head. Since a Tesla is a pure electric car you obviously do not need gas but you do need to charge it. With Tesla, you can charge your car for free at any Tesla Supercharger, which just happens to be just 2 doors down. Not only do I save the money on gas, I can just charge it while I am at the store saving me the money on the electricity as well. Further, Teslas don't have all those parts of a regular car that need maintenance. No oil changes and the such. When you add in the cost of maintenance and gas, that price comes down quickly.

The other consideration is the time savings of not going to the gas station. The Tesla would be refueled, so to speak, and ready to go all the time.

Last week I was in Oregon celebrating my wife's birthday at the beach. On the way back to the airport, we stopped at the Tesla store for a test drive. I will talk more about this experience later in further posts but my wife and I walked away with the same feeling that the fundamental principles between Tesla and Arctic are very similar even though they are completely different products. I couldn't help but think that I should draw the comparisons between the two on our blog to highlight the advantages of the Arctic Spa plus have some fun with the Tesla.
